Recipe yields 1 1/2 cups of pizza sauce. Enough for 1 large pizza or two small pizzas.
What you’ll need:
-1, 6 oz can tomato paste mixed with 1 cup of water OR 1 1/2 cup crushed tomatoes
(the paste will result in a rich, thick sauce and the crushed tomatoes will result in a lighter, fruitier, tomato-y sauce)
-1 tsp dried oregano

-1/2 tsp onion powder
-1/2 tsp fennel seed (crushed/ rubbed between fingers to release the goodness)
-1/2 tsp red pepper flake
-1 tsp brown sugar
salt and pepper
In a medium-sized sauce pan, combine all of the ingredients. Heat just until it starts to simmer. If using for pizza, set aside to cool or serve warm along side your bread sticks, cheese sticks and other favorite munchies or appetizers.
